This study was commissioned by the Physical Planning Division of the Ministry of Housing, Lands and Telecommunications of the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica (GoCD), pursuant to the Physical Planning Act No. 5 of 2002 (PDF, 228 KB).
The main objectives of the report are:
- To afford special protection to the Pond Casse area at the foothills of Morne Trois Pitons World Heritage Site
- To protect the biodiversity of the area by preparing a development plan which is sensitive to the flora, fauna and natural features within the area
- To recommend measures that must be taken to preserve the water quality for the enjoyment of future generations.
Land with titles dated prior to 2009 may be exempt from the required lot sizes set by the Pont Casse Land use Plan, however if the lot is smaller than a 1/3 of the recommended size may not be considered favorable.
All lands are still required to comply with the specified uses.
